About ACRC

Welcome to Avon County Rowing Club

ACRC is located on the beautiful River Avon at Saltford Rowing Centre, just off the A4 leaving Saltford in the Bath direction. We share the glorious 4km stretch of river with a great variety of wildlife including swans and cygnets, herons, moorhens and kingfishers.

We are a welcoming and busy community club who serve the Bath, Saltford, Keynsham and Bristol areas with an active membership aged from 12 through to 85 and our friendly club dog, Daisy. The club caters for all levels of experience from complete beginners to national champions and many of our members train for and attend races throughout the year that are suitable for all ages and experience levels.  We also offer non-competitive social rowing and indoor rowing.

ACRC are lucky enough to have a 1km straight next to the club leading to and a long stretch heading towards Bath which allows us to train for both Regattas and longer Head races. We run four successful events each year including one Regatta and three Head races with short and long course options which are very popular and attended by many regional clubs who enjoy racing for medals and glory on our fabulous river.

The club have an extensive range of sculling and sweep boats including singles, doubles, pairs, quads, fours, eights and an octuple as well as viruses and stable explore boats for novice rowers which are racked in a large boathouse. We also have a gym with ergs and weights and a large clubhouse for socialising with a log burner and fantastic views of the river and surrounding countryside.

Avon County welcomes existing coxes, rowers, scullers and coaches of any age and ability either returning to the sport or moving into the area. We also offer great opportunities for those considering the sport to learn to row with us – all beginners are welcome, we believe anyone can learn to row and it is never too late to try! A large percentage of our membership is made up of people who have learnt to row at the club and we are always happy to see new faces.
