Coxing

Could You Be Our Next Cox?

A great cox is the heartbeat of a crew. Responsible for steering the boat safely, making tactical decisions, and communicating clearly with the rowers, the cox keeps the crew working together at its very best. From offering technical feedback and motivation to making split-second race decisions, the cox plays a vital role both on the water and on race day.

Rowers often say that a coxed four is really a crew of five, and an eight is a team of nine. Quite simply, a crew can’t train, race, or reach its full potential without a skilled and confident cox. It’s a challenging, rewarding, and hugely respected role where you can make a real difference every time you get on the water.

We’re always looking for enthusiastic people to join our coxing team. Whether you’ve coxed before at school, university, or another club, you’re a rower interested in trying something new, or you’ve never been in a rowing boat before, we’d love to hear from you.

No previous experience? No problem. We’ll provide full training, ongoing support, and opportunities to develop your skills. Better still, if you join us as a coxing-only member, there are no club membership fees!

If you’re ready to take the helm and become an essential part of our rowing community, we’d love to welcome you aboard.
